WEST SALEM — The West Salem High School girls soccer team scored eight times in the first half on the way to a 13-0 nonconference victory over visiting Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Saturday.
Junior Ava Schuster and senior Maya Hoff scored four goals apiece for the Panthers (1-1-1), who picked up their first win of the season.
Hoff had three in the first half and one in the second, and Schuster had two in each half. They also had two assists each.
Senior Emily Graham scored two goals in the first half, and sophomore Amelia Goetz scored one in the second and assisted on three goals.
Mia Lehman and Anna Biondo also scored once and assisted on a goal for the Panthers, who next play Holmen — unbeaten and ranked second in Division 2 by state coaches — on Tuesday in Holmen.
Onalaska 1, New Richmond 0
NEW RICHMOND — The Hilltoppers (3-2-1) became the first team this season to beat the Tigers (2-1-2).
Onalaska, which won for the first time since starting the season with two wins, broke the scoreless tie when junior Finley Walters assisted on a goal by freshman Addie Shelton in the 75th minute.
Sophomore Avery Cowley had six saves in a shutout against a program that has won three straight Division 2 regional championships.
Lodi Quadrangular
LODI — Aquinas won a pair of games, beating Waukesha South 7-0 and Lodi 4-3.
The Blugolds scored five goals in the first half against South and added two goals in the first six minutes of the second half.
Alexa Myre and Hannah Miller each scored three goals, and Molly Swift added another. Myre also assisted on two goals.
Aquinas came back from a 2-0 deficit to win the second game, and Myre’s goal at 79:44 was the winner. The Blugolds changed formations after Lodi had taken a 3-2 lead and scored twice in a 2-5-3 with a strong wind at their backs.
The Blugolds had 20 shots and put 11 of them on goal in a game that included two more goals from Myre. Miller and Morgan Gerling also scored for Aquinas.
