LA CROSSE — The Aquinas High School girls soccer team closed out its regular season with an 8-0 nonconference win over the Prairie du Chien co-op at Fields for Kids on Friday.
The Blugolds (13-3-0), who are ranked eighth in Division 4 by state coaches, scored four goals in each half to beat the Blackhawks and shake off a two-game losing streak as they enter the postseason.
Aquinas scored three goals in the first 17 minutes with Anna Binsfeld assisting Hannah Miller on the first and Miller assisted Binsfeld on the second in the seventh minute. Hayden Zehren made it 3-0, and Molly Swift struck a minute or two later to give the Blugolds their 4-0 halftime elead.
Zehren scored again in the second half, and Quinn Williams, Norah Poellinger and Eleanor Paulson also added goals. Paulson also had an assist.
Aquinas is seeded first in its bracket and will host either fifth-seeded Richland Center or fourth-seeded Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld in a regional final on June 6.
