LA CROSSE — The Holmen High School baseball team pushed its winning streak to eight games with a 13-3 MVC victory at Logan on Monday.
The Vikings (12-5, 6-2) used an eight-run third inning to stretch their lead to 10-0 and finished the victory with a three-run top of the fifth.
Right fielder and North Dakota State University commit Joe Meeter was 2 for 2 with two doubles, five runs driven in and three runs scored. He also walked and was hit by a pitch.
Center fielder Mason Flury was 2 for 3 with a double and drove in three runs, and catcher Noah Carlson went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored an one RBI.
Alex Goryl pitched all five innings for Holmen and had four strikeouts, one walk and five hits allowed.
Pitcher/second baseman Jackson Bosch doubled and drove in two runs for the Rangers (10-7, 2-7).
Aquinas 12, Sparta 2 (6)
LA CROSSE — The first-place Blugolds (10-4, 7-2 MVC) lead Holmen by a half game in the MVC after beating the Spartans in six innings.
Designated hitter Cullen Swanson went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three runs driven in for Aquinas, which had 15 hits.
Catcher Ethan Kamrowski was 2 for 2, and shortstop/pitcher Marcus Klar and third baseman Aedan David were both 2 for 4 with an RBI apiece.
Right fielder Connor Benz also singled, hit a sacrifice fly and drove in three runs for the Blugolds.
Waylon Hargrove pitched 5 2/3 innings and had six strikeouts against one walk and six hits allowed.
Central 3, Onalaska 2
LA CROSSE — The RiverHawks (10-7, 7-6 MVC) beat the Hilltoppers (8-6, 5-4) when infielder Beckett Allert hit a one-out single to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning at Copeland Park.
A walk and a single put the tiebreaking runs on to lead off the seventh, and Allert’s single scored right fielder Kenden Bishofsky with the winning run.
Each team finished with four hits, and the RiverHawks took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first before Onalaska came back with single runs in the third and fifth.
First baseman Sam Biegen was 2 for 3 for Central, and shortstop Cooper Rudie went 2 for 2 with a double, a triple and two runs scored for the Hilltoppers.
Caledonia 7, Wabasha-Kellogg 0
WABASHA — Tyson Ginther pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven while walking one for the Warriors (11-6).
Ginther was also 2 for 4 with a solo home run and scored twice.
Catcher Jacob Klug was 2 for 4 with a stolen base, and shortstop Will Allen and third baseman Braiden DeFlorian each drove in two runs for Caledonia.
Melrose-Mindoro 6, Whitehall 0
MELROSE — The Mustangs (12-2) scored at least once in five of six innings at the plate, and senior Colton Koss struck out 10 in a three-hit shutout.
Koss didn’t walk a batter and allowed one single each in the first, fifth and sixth innings.
Third baseman Eric Herzberg went 2 for 3 with a double, and Koss and right fielder Isaiah Kleinsmith both scored twice. Designated hitter Wade Adams stole two bases for Melrose-Mindoro.
