WISCONSIN DELLS — The Onalaska High School boys golf team shot a 308 to win the 23-team Battle at the Rock Invitational on Monday.
The Hilltoppers had a pair of players finish among the top 10 individuals at Wild Rock Golf Club and beat second-place Winneconne by two shots and third-place Middleton by four.
All of those teams are ranked among the top 10 by state coaches. The Hilltoppers are sixth in Division 1, the Wolves second in Division 2 and the Cardinals first in Division 1.
Holmen placed 10th with a 328.
Onalaska junior Chasen Witt tied for third place individually with a 2-over-par 74. He was part of a four-way tie behind Oregon’s Brady Gaschke (71) and Winneconne’s Austin Dobbe (72).
Witt shot a 1-under 35 on the front nine with birdies at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 9. He was 3 over on the back nine with a birdie at No. 14.
Sophomore teammate Rylan Tomashek tied for ninth place with a 78. He was 3 over on the front and 1 over on the back with birdies at Nos. 1, 2, 7 and 11.
Junior Grayson Andel and freshman Asher Andel shot rounds of 79 to add their scores to Onalaska’s team performance. They tied for 19th place individually, with Grayson getting a birdie at No. 2 and Asher getting on No. 14.
Holmen senior Ayden Dirks was also part of that tie for 19th place at 79. He carded birdies at No. 9 and No. 18 to lead the Vikings.
Senior Braylan Welch (81), senior Logan Pinnow (82) and junior Gavin Steffen (86) also scored for Holmen.
Whispering Pines Invitational
CADOTT — Aquinas finished third among 16 teams with a score of 325 that was only beaten by Bloomer (3-6) and Durand-Arkansaw (319).
Sophomore James Siegert placed second individually with a 2-over 74.Bloomer freshman Landon Trainor’s 72 was the only lower round.
Siegert was 3 over on the front and 1 under on the back. He had birdies at Nos. 6, 14 and 17 and had just one bogey on the back nine.
Junior Jack Vogel shot a 78 and placed sixth individually, while sophomore Luke Jones had an 84. Juniors Michael Jones and Gabe Hundt both shot 89. Vogel completed the back nine even with a birdie at No. 18.
