LA CROSSE — A nine-run third inning pulled the Aquinas High School baseball team away from a close game and paved the way for a 15-4 five-inning victory at Logan on Wednesday.
The first-place Blugolds (6-2 overall, 4-1 MVC) had their big third inning started and ended by senior third baseman Aedan David, who plated the first run with a single and the final four with a grand slam.
David finished the game 3 for 4 with six runs driven in and three scored.
First baseman Landon Teachout was 3 for 4 with a double and three runs scored, and second baseman Parks Tobin hit a two-run double to drive in half of the four he plated during the game.
Center fielder Connor Benz was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs driven in, and pitcher Waylon Hargrove was 2 for 4 with a stolen base.
The Rangers (5-5, 2-5) got on the board with home runs from designated hitter Jesse Lycke and third baseman Tommy Check. Check’s blast was a three-run shot in the bottom of the third.
