Tuesday softball: Onalaska, Caledonia increase win streaks; Augedahl pitches 3-hitter and homers

LA CROSSE — The Onalaska High School softball team won for the third time in four days when it used a five-run top of the seventh inning to put away Aquinas 12-1 at Pammel Creek on Tuesday.

The Hilltoppers (9-6, 6-2 MVC) had seven players with at least one hit and seven with at least one run batted in to follow up a Saturday win over Menomonie and a Monday victory over Sun Prairie West.

Third baseman Zoe Koonce’O’Kane was 2 for 4 with a triple and drove in three runs, and second baseman Kylie Gillhausen 2 for 2 and two runs driven in for Onalaska.

Sydney Kraus pitched a complete game and finished with nine strikeouts, two walks and fice hits allowed
Cayenne Zinnecker and Maryjane Flynn both doubled for the Hilltoppers.

First baseman Ava Scholze went 3 for 3 and drove in the run for the Blugolds (6-8, 2-7), who also received two stolen bases from Ava Fernholz.

Caledonia 6, Dover-Eyota 0

EYOTA — The Warriors (15-1) won their 12th game in a row, and junior Avery Augedahl pitched a three-hit shutout.

Augedahl allowed three singles, struck out 12 and didn’t walk a batter. she also hit a solo home run, stole two bases and finished 3 for 4 to help lead her team’s 15-hit attack.

Right fielder Lily Augedahl was also 3 for 4 and drove in two runs for Caledonia, which received two hits apiece from third baseman Paizley Lange and left fielder Brairy Proulx. Both of Proulx’s hits were doubles.

Sparta 9, Central 8 (8)

SPARTA — The RiverHawks (3-12, 2-5 MVC) scored once in the top of the eighth inning, but the Spartans scored twice in the bottom of the inning for the victory.

First baseman Norah Holkup and pitcher Emma Roesler were both 2 for 4 and drove in two runs for Central, which forced extra innings when Maleah Tomesh was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh.

Catcher Morgan Pacl and center fielder Elena Wagner also had two hits apiece for the RiverHawks, who received a double from Mady Young and a triple from Tomesh. Wagner and Ellie Gillitzer also had two stolen bases apiece.

Tomah 6, Logan 0

LA CROSSE — The Rangers () finished with just one hit — a one-out single by Emma Bacon in the fifth inning — in a loss to the first-place Timberwolves.

Logan was only retired in order twice and put two runners on in both the fourth and fifth innings but couldn’t score.

Blair-Taylor 4, Melrose-Mindoro 2

BLAIR — The Mustangs (10-3) allowed two big runs to the Wildcats in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Pitcher Bella Rozek was 3 for 3 with a triple, a home run and two runs driven in for Melrose-Mindoro. She also limited Blair-Taylor to three hits while striking out seven and walking none.

Rozek hit a solo homer in the fifth and drove in Kelsey Young with a triple in the seventh.
