ONALASKA — The Onalaska High School softball team put an exclamation point on an 8-2 nonconference victory over Menomonie by scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on Saturday.

The Hilltoppers (7-6) broke away from a 2-2 tie with eight hits in the sixth at Jaycee Fields — including a single and a double from first baseman Zoey Lichty — to shake off two losses from Friday.

The big play of the sixth came when Zoe Koonce-O’Kane singled to left with two runners aboard. The Mustangs compounded things with an error, and all three scored on the play.

Sophia Larkin, Cayenne Zinnecker and Lichty also had run-scoring hits in the sixth.

Sydney Kraus pitched a complete game and finished with seven strikeouts, two walks, six hits and no earned runs allowed.

Lichty and center fielder Cayenne Zinnecker were both 3 for 4, and Lichty and Koonce-O’Kane were credited with two runs driven in each.

Catcher Claire Weigel and Krause also tripled for the Hilltoppers.
