BANGOR — The Luther High School boys track and field team placed fifth and its girls sixth at the Bruce Brewer Invitational on Tuesday.
Melrose-Mindoro’s girls were also seventh and its boys ninth in a meet won by Bangor’s girls and Kickapoo/Lafarge’s boys.
The Knights had 71.5 points in the boys meet and 50 in the girls. The Mustangs had 49.5 in the girls and 29 in the boys.
Luther junior Nathan Dobberstein had a huge night with victories in the 110-meter hurdles (15.77 seconds), 300 hurdles (41.14) and the high jump (6 feet, 1 inch).
Melrose-Mindoro sophomore Brooks Cowley also won the 100 in 11.48, Melrose-Mindoro junior Sheila Johnson won the high jump (5-0) and Luther sophomore Jayeda Livingston the long jump (17-3).
Livingston added second place in the 100 hurdles (16.8) and third place in the 300 hurdles (48.94) to her performance.
Luther’s boys were second in the 400 (46.05) and 800 (1:33) relays, and Melrose-Mindoro sophomore Isaak Christianson was second in the pole vault (11-0).
Melrose-Mindoro junior Bristol Coats and Luther senior Jacee Erickson had second place in the 300 hurdles (48.27) and pole vault (9-6), respectively.
Third-place finishes were recorded by Luther senior Ayden Livingston in the long jump (20-9) and Melrose-Mindoro junior Payten Craig in the pole vault (8-9).
