ONALASKA — The Logan High School softball team scored six runs in the first inning on its way to a 9-6 nonconference victory at Luther on Tuesday.
The Rangers (6-4) won their second game in a row behind an offense that had seven players with at least one hit.
Third baseman Kenna Streeck was 3 for 4 with three singles, scored twice and drove in a run.
Second baseman Norah Keller was 2 for 4, drove in three runs and scored once, while pitcher Kaia DePaolo went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs for Logan.
Catcher Maria Weber added a triple, and DePaolo delivered the big hit in the first inning with a two-run single to center field.
The Knights were led by third baseman Rylee Weber, who went 3 for 4 with a triple and run driven in.
Center fielder Avery Berg had two hits, walked twice and scored twice, and shortstop Kaitlyn Van Loon tripled, and Kaylie Bauer drove in two runs for Luther.
Holmen 9, Aquinas 4
LA CROSSE — The second-place Vikings (7-4, 6-1 MVC) scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed at Pammel Creek.
Holmen had eight players with at least one hit, and pitcher Gabi Stuhr went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two runs driven in.
Second baseman Makenzie Nunemacher and left fielder Sydney Cichosz also drove in two runs each for the Vikings, who have won two games in a row.
Shortstop Macy Kine doubled, and center fielder Makenna McHugh walked once and had two of Holmen’s four stolen bases.
Stuhr struck out six, walked two and allowed four runs on seven hits in a complete game.
First baseman Ava Scholze was 2 for 3 and scored twice, while catcher Ryann Klar drove in one run with a single and another on a sacrifice fly for the Blugolds (5-4), who had a tough time trying to overcome six errors.
West Salem 7, Viroqua 4
VIROQUA — The Panthers (11-2, 7-1) took a half-game lead over Arcadia and G-E-T at the top of the Coulee Conference standings with a win over the Blackhawks.
Briana Pontius hit a two-run single to start a four-run sixth inning for West Salem, which trailed 2-1 before the Pontius hit. Senior pitcher Josie Brudos then launched a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to help the Panthers pull away.
Brudos and center fielder Brooklyn Lee both went 2 for 4, and Brudos struck out 13 batters, walked none and allowed two earned runs in the complete game.
Onalaska 20, Central 3 (5)
LA CROSSE — The third-place Hilltoppers (5-4, 4-2 MVC) beat the RiverHawks (2-10, 1-4) for the second time in as many days and had 16 hits this time around.
Right fielder MJ Heit drew a walk and scored on her first plate appearance, then jacked a grand slam to end a 10-run first inning for Onalaska. She finished 2 for 2 with six runs driven in and twoi stolen bases.
Shortstop Sophia Larkin went 4 for 4 with two doubles, three runs driven in and four runs scored, and catcher Claire Weigel was 2 for 3 with three runs scored and three driven in.
First baseman Zoey Lichty had two hits, and pitcher Sydney Kraus doubled and third baseman Zoe Koonce-O’Kane tripled for Onalaska. Center fielder Cayenne Zinnecker also drove in three runs.
Central finished with four singles — one each from four players. First baseman Norah Holkup drove in two runs for the RiverHawks.
Melrose-Mindoro 3, Eau Claire Immanuel 2
MELROSE — The Mustangs (9-1) won their third game in a row by scoring twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to beat the Lancers.
Melrose-Mindoro needed just one hit in the two-run fifth. A single, an error and an intentional walk loaded the bases before Cooper Zeman scored on a passed ball and another walk loaded the bases again.
An error brought home Kelsey Young with the go-ahead and winning run.
Opal Buchanan pitched a complete-game three-hitter with three strikeouts and two walks, while Zeman went 2 for 4 and second baseman Bella Rozek was 2 for 2 with a solo home run in the fourth.
