The La Crosse Loggers were swept by the Duluth Huskies in the subdivisional round of the Northwoods League baseball playoffs.
The Loggers, who won the first-half championship in the Great Plains East Division, were beaten 6-2 at Copeland Park on Sunday and 8-0 in Duluth on Monday as the Huskies put a quick end to the three-game series.
Duluth, which won the second half of the Great Plains East season, scored three runs in the top of the first inning of the first game to set the tone, and the Loggers never led.
Left fielder Eli Small was 2 for 4 with a double, and first baseman Savion Flowers and second baseman Kelsen Johnson each drove in a run for the Loggers, who scored both of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut a six-run deficit to four.
La Crosse used seven pitchers in the series, and they combined to allow 12 earned runs on 13 hits and 10 walks. They also struck out 16.
