HOLMEN — The Holmen High School team broke its game against Onalaska open with four runs in the third inning and added three more in the sixth on the way to a 10-2 victory that gave it a share of the MVC lead.
The Vikings (13-5, 7-2 MVC) moved into a tie with Aquinas for the top spot in the standings and pushed their winning streak to nine games by earning a regular-season split with the Hilltoppers (8-8, 5-6).
First baseman Maddax Connely doubled, homered and drove in three runs for Holmen, which had nine hits and stole five bases.
Third baseman Landen Kelly was 2 for 4, scored twice, drove in two runs and had two of his team’s stolen bases, while shortstop Nolan Mashak was 2 for 3, scored twice and had one stolen base.
Center fielder Mason Flury also had two singles and a stolen base for the Vikings in their ninth straight victory.
Onalaska center fielder Tyler Kowal was 2 for 3, stole two bases and drove in two runs, and first baseman Ian Kowal tripled.
Logan 10, Luther 1
ONALASKA — The Rangers (11-7) won for the sixth time in seven games by holding the Knights () to a single run in the fourth inning.
Catcher Tommy Check was 2 for 3, drove in three runs and had a stolen base for Logan, which bounced back from a loss to Holmen in its most recent game.
Keegan Anderson and Owen Check combined for seven strikeouts, two walks and four hits allowed for Logan, which had two sacrifice flies from third baseman/shortstop Jackson Bosch.
Center fielder Sam Diehl also had two hits and first baseman Jesse Lycke two runs driven in for the Rangers.
Center fielder Ashton Kendall doubled, drove in a run and stole a base for Luther (3-12). Teammate and left fielder Finn Rick doubled.
Sparta 5, West Salem 4
WEST SALEM — The Spartans scored four times in the top of the seventh inning, and the Panthers (5-9) loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t get the tying run across.
Center fielder Jesse Jothen was 3 for 4 with a double and drove in one run, and pitcher/infielder Terryn Boland went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Shortstop Mekebo Anderson was 2 for 4 with a double and a stolen base for West Salem, which had 10 hits but made four errors that led to four unearned runs.
La Crescent-Hokah 8, Caledonia 2
CALEDONIA — The Lancers scored all of their runs in the fourth inning with the help of three hits and two errors from the Warriors.
Each team had four hits, and second baseman Landon O’Heron and shortstop Tyson Ginther doubled for Caledonia (11-7). Catcher Jacob Klug and center fielder Will Allen each drove in a run for the Warriors.
