WEST SALEM — The West Salem High School girls soccer team began its season with a 3-1 nonconference victory over visiting Baraboo on Thursday.
Senior Brynlee Kelly, a captain, started the scoring for the Panthers by converting on a pass from Brisha Briseno and gave them a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal.
Briseno then scored the first goal of her varsity career unassisted as West Salem won its opener for the third straight season. The Panthers have also won their home opener three years in a row.

LA CROSSE — Emma Kolb scored in the 10th minute for the Rangers, and an own goal in the 46th pushed the lead to two goals in a game played at Swanson Field.
