WISCONSIN DELLS — The Aquinas High School boys golf team completed a two-day tournament with a fourth-place finish in a 38-team field on Tuesday.
The Blugolds, who played part of their round Monday and completed it Tuesday, finished with a 36-hole team score of at Wild Rock Golf Club.
Aquinas finished 29 shots behind champion Madison West (593) and had the best score among Division 2 schools. Waunakee (594) and Oregon (619) — both Division 1 schools — also finished ahead of the Blugolds.
Sophomore James Siegert shot a 2-under par 142 with rounds of even 72 and 2-under 70 to finish fourth individually.
Madison West’s Frank Gilbert shot a 9-under 135Waunakee’s Peyton Albers an 8-under 136 and Williams Bay’s Daniel Gaylord a 6-under 138 as the only performers lower than Siegert highlighted his tournament with eagle on the par-5 eighth hole during his second round. He also birdied Nos. 2 and 18 during his second round.
Siegert birdies No. 2, 5 and 17 on his first round.
The Blugolds also received scoring rounds from junior Jack Vogel (156), junior Gabe Hundt (162) and sophomore Luke Jones (162).
Vogel had rounds of 79 and 77. He closed with the 77 and matched Siegert with an eagle on No. 8. He also birdied 11 and 18 on his second round and birdied No. 5 during his first round.
Hundt had rounds of 83 and 79 with an eagle at No. 8 and birdie at No. 11 on Tuesday.
Jones opened with an 84 and closed with a 78. His second round included a birdie on No. 8 and another on No. 18.
Luther played 18 holes and was led by sophomore Robert Bruns with a 79. He recorded birdies on No. 8 and No. 11.
Senior Brody Greeno shot a 94, sophomore Jaden Kolb a 99 and freshman Jordan Matzke a 100 for the Knights.
Greeno had a birdie on the par-3 13th, and Matzke birdied No. 11.
