Saturday baseball: Aquinas wins in five, Logan earns split at Menomonie

LA CROSSE — The Aquinas High School baseball team scored at least once in each inning on the way to a 10-0 five-inning nonconference victory over Stevens Point Pacelli at Lee Gilbert Field on Saturday.

Landon Teachout and Marcus Klar combined to hold Pacelli to three hits — all singles — and strike out four batters.

Infielder Aedan David was 2 for 4 with a double, stolen base and run driven in, and second baseman Parks Tobin singled, hit a sacrifice fly and drove in three runs for the Blugolds (12-4).

Designated hitter Cullen Swanson and center fielder Ryan Johnson also doubled for Aquinas, which broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the third.

MENOMONIE — The Rangers (12-9) came back to win the second game and secure a split in the nonconference doubleheader.

Center fielder Sam Diehl was 2 for 3 with a double and drove in a run in the loss. Pitcher Jackson Bosch also had two hits, and third baseman Owen Check doubled and drove in two runs.

Mason Welch pitched a four-hitter in the second game.

Left fielder Charlie Zellner singled twice, and second baseman Tommy Check singled and drove in two runs.

Stewartville 5, Caledonia 3

STEWARTVILLE — The Warriors (13-8) loaded the bases twice in the top of the seventh inning but could only get one run out of it in a loss to the Tigers.

Stewartville got the final out of the game on a strikeout with the bases loaded.

Caledonia recorded just three hits, but first baseman Jack Schmitz doubled, and left fielder Max Schmitz singled, walked and stole a base.

Oliver Stemper and Will Allen pitched three innings each and combined on a two-hitter as three errors led to four unearned runs. Stemper struck out three, walked two and allowed the two hits. Allen struck out two and allowed one earned run.

EAU CLAIRE — The RiverHawks (10-10) never led in two road losses to the Huskies.

Shortstop Aiden Schulze was 2 for 3, and third baseman/pitcher Beckett Allert doubled i the first game.

North pulled away from a 2-2 game with three runs in the fourth inning of the second game. Designated hitter Landon Smith was 2 for 4 with a double for Central.

Marshfield 8, Holmen 3
Waunakee 12, Holmen 4

HOLMEN — The Vikings were swept at home after allowing 21 hits and making five errors against the Tigers and Warriors.

Marshfield scored three runs in the top of the sixth to separate from a 4-3 game.

Right fielder Joe Meeter was 3 for 4 with a double and second baseman Nolan Lomas 2 for 4 with a double. Lomas, Nolan Mashak and Maddax Connely each drove in a run.

The Vikings scored all of their runs against Waunakee in the bottom of the first but couldn’t make the lead hold up. The Warriors scored seven in the fourth.

Meeter was 2 for 3, and Mashak drove in two runs for Holmen.
