LA CROSSE — The Central High School girls soccer team pushed its winning streak to four games with a 4-0 win over Altoona at the UW-La Crosse Invitational on Saturday.
The RiverHawks (5-1) scored twice in each half against the previously unbeaten Railroaders (3-1-3).
Senior Grace Wilkerson scored in the fifth minute and again in the 45th to get Central on the board first in each half. Mae Yang assisted on both of those goals.
Yang then scored oa goal of her own with an assist from Wilkerson in the 46th minute for the final margin.
Cam Woyczik only had to make one save for Central, which has only lost to Logan/Luther this season.
Madden Xiong gave the RiverHawks a 2-0 lead in the first half when she received an assist from Wilkerson in the 30th minute.
Madison Edgewood 1, Holmen 0
LA CROSSE — The Crusaders, who finished second in Division 3 at last season’s WIAA state tournament, scored one early goal to knock off the Vikings (3-2-1) at UW-L.
Edgewood controlled possession and made any looks at the goal difficult on Holmen, which is ranked fifth in Division 2 by state coaches.
DeForest 2, Onalaska 0
LA CROSSE — The Hilltoppers (4-5-1) were shut out for the second day in a row at the invitational.
Sophomore Avery Cowley made 11 saves, and Onalaska was able to put just three shots on goal against the Norskies, who scored in the third and 75th minutes.
