MADISON — Aquinas High School senior Tegan Schott didn’t have to play his first-round singles match in the WIAA Division 2 singles bracket of the individual state tournament at the Nielsen Tennis Center because his opponent had to withdraw.
Schott (21-4) moves into the second round and will match up with second-seeded Michael Pan (20-2), a junior from Grafton.
That Division 2 singles match is scheduled for Friday at noon.
Central’s Division 1 doubles team of senior Drake Wonderling and freshman Ian Romano drew extra qualifiers from Cedarburg in the first round but wasn’t able to advance to the second round.
Seniors Simon Somorin and Nick Claditis (15-10) beat Wonderling and Roman (9-5) 6-2, 6-3 to move to the second day of the tournament.
