ONALASKA — The Onalaska High School baseball team overcame two late deficits and scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning for an 8-7 nonconference victory over visiting Altoona on Friday.
The Hilltoppers (11-9) received an RBI single from Bradyn DeLong to tie the game, and an error allowed the tiebreaking run to score and give Onalaska its second win in a row.
Right fielder Carson Zinnecker also brought home Tyler Kowal on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 6 in the bottom of the sixth.
The Railroaders scored once in the to pof the seventh to set up the Hilltoppers’ two-run bottom of the seventh.
Kowal, who played shortstop and center field, and first baseman/pitcher Ian Kowal both went 2 for 4 for Onalaska, which scored five runs in the third inning after Altoona scored four in the first and second.
Zinnecker’s sacrifice fly in the sixth gave him his second run driven in as the Hilltoppers overcame three errors to win.
Infielder Cooper Rudie also tripled, walked twice and had one stolen base for Onalaska.
