Tuesday boys golf: Tomashek medalist as Onalaska wins another MVC meet

LA CROSSE — The Onalaska High School boys golf team continued its unbeaten run through the MVC schedule with a victory in a conference meet at Forest Hills on Tuesday.

The Hilltoppers finished with a team score of 297 to hold off second-place Sparta (307) by 10 strokes.
Aquinas was third (320), Central/Logan fourth (332) and Holmen fifth (335).

Onalaska sophomore Rylan Tomashek was again medalist with a 2-over-par 73 after shooting a 2-under 33 on the front nine. Tomashek eagled No. 4 and carded birdies at No. 1, No. 14 and No. 18.

Tomashek finished one shot ahead of teammate Chasen Witt, who tied for second at 74. Sophomore Colten Schroeder and freshman Asher Andel shot 75s to round out Onalaska’s team card.

Witt birdied Nos. 1, 4, 14 and 18, Schroeder eagled No. 18, and Andel birdied Nos. 2, 8, 9 and 18.

Aquinas was led by sophomore James Siegert’s 75, which included birdies at Nos. 10, 12 and 18. Junior Jack Vogel (81), junior Gabe Hundt (81) and sophomore Luke Jones (83) also scored for the Blugolds.

Junior Sid Hooyman shot a 79 with an eagle at No. 18 and birdie at No. 14 to lead Central/Logan. Freshman Nate Brudos added an 83, junior Harper Kendle an 85 and sophomore Sam Hansen an 85.

The Vikings received a team-best round of 76 from senior Logan Pinnow, who birdied Nos. 2, 10, 12 and 18. Junior Gavin Steffen shot an 84, senior Sawyer Genz an 86 and senior Braylan Welch an 89.

Coulee Conference Meet

BARRE MILLS — West Salem placed third with a score of 179 and Luther fourth at 182 in a meet won by Black River Falls (162) at Fox Hollow.

West Salem junior Drew McOnkey and Luther sophomore Robert Bruns finished in a tie for seventh place individual with rounds of 7-over 42. Black River Falls junior Sam Aebly and senior Calvin Lakowsketied for medalist honors at 39.

Junior Kayden Tauscher shot a 43 and senior Coen Knutson and freshman Canon Boland shot 47s for the Panthers.

Senior Brody Greeno shot a 46, sophomore Brody Wihlm a 47 and senior Gannon Hagedorn a 47 for the Knights.
