MADISON — Sophomore Rylan Tomashek broke par to lead the Onalaska High School boys golf team to a third-place finish in the 21-team Edgewood Invitational at Blackhawk Country Club on Monday.
Tomashek carded three birdies and shot a 2-under-par 34 on the front nine and picked up two more on an even back to finish with a 2-under 70, which left him two strokes behind individual champion Kade Wieland of Milton.
Tomashek’s runner-up finish paved the way for a team score of 304, which trailed only Middleton’s 301 and Edgewood’s 303. He birdied Nos. 4, 8 and 9 on the front, Nos. 10 and 12 on the back, played the three par-5s at 1 under and the par-3s even.
Sophomore teammate Colten Schroeder also finished among the top 10 when his 75 was good for ninth place. He birdied No. 11.
The Hilltoppers also received rounds of 78 from junior Chasen Witt and 81 from freshman Asher Andel. Witt birdied Nos 2 and 14, and Andel recorded a birdie at No. 13.
Holmen placed 12th with a score of 336 and was led by senior Braylan Welch’s 81. He registered birdies on Nos. 12 and 14 while shooting a 3-over 39 on the back nine.
Senior Logan Pinnow added an 83, senior Sawyer Genz added an 85, and junior Gavin Steffen shot an 87 to round out the Vikings’ scoring rounds. Steffen birdied No. 10.

Caledonia 180, La Crescent-Hokah 227
CALEDONIA — Junior Hayden Harms shot a 6-over-par 42 at the Ma Cal Grove Country Club to lead all golfers.
Harms birdied No. 2 and led a team effort that includes scoring rounds from junior Jazzlyn Hauser (44), freshman Emersyn Lug (45) and sophomore Ellison Harms (49).
