ONALASKA — Holmen High School senior Jack Barth and Onalaska senior Isabella Malecek emerged victorious in boys and girls four-event tetrathlons at the Onalaska Open on Tuesday.
Barth finished with 2,584 points while competing in the 100, 800 long jump and shot put to beat second-place Ayden Livingston of Luther (2,437) and third-place Luke Biegel of Onalaska (2,418) and Malecek accumulated 2,289 points to beat Onalaska senior Rickie Tillotson (2,093) and Central freshman Abby Frost (2,072) for the girls championship.
Within the boys tetrathlon, Barth won the 100 (11.49 seconds) and 800 (2:09.84), placed second in the long jump (19 feet, 2 inches) and was fourth in the shot put (33-1). Malecek won the 100 (13.24) and was second in the 800 (2:28.43) and long jump (15-7) and fifth in the shot put (24-1).
Holmen senior Lydia Lazarescu was a double winner in the girls meet with victories in the 400 (1:00.4) and long jump (16-8 1/4), and Onalaska senior Makena McGarry was second in the 200 (26.49), 400 (1:01.02) and high jump (5-0).
Holmen freshman Claire Wagoner won the 800 (2:28.45), Central freshman Clara Jantz the 1,600 (6:02.46), Luther sophomore Jayda Livingston the 100 hurdles (16.62) and West Salem senior Olivia Maki the 300 hurdles (46.69).
Onalaska junior Kendall Carlson won the high jump (5-4), West Salem senior Maia Hutchens the pole vault (9-6), West Salem sophomore Brielle Moore the triple jump (32-10), Holmen senior Brenna Schmidt the shot put (40-8 1/2) and Aquinas junior Eliot McKnight the discus (123-5).
Onalaska junior Brendan Chenault won the 100 (10.98) and 200 (22.43) and Luther junior Nathan Dobberstein the 110 hurdles (15.51) and 300 hurdles (40.52) to lead local boys in the meet.
Onalaska sophomore Wylder Burch won the high jump (6-7 1/2), West Salem junior Henri Schlecht the pole vault (11-0), West Salem senior Elliot Wolf the shot put (51-6 1/2) and West Salem junior Isaiah Laack the discus (149-3).
