BANGOR — The Onalaska High School boys and girls track and field teams won championships at the Bangor Open on Tuesday.
Junior Brendan Chenault won two events for the Hilltoppers, who scored 76 points in the boys competition to hold off second-place Logan’s 73.
Onalaska’s girls also scored 76 points to beat second-place Bangor (59). Logan’s girls were fifth (35.5).
Chenault won the 100- and 200-meter dashes with respective times of 11.33 and 22.95 seconds.
Senior Joshua Phillips (110 hurdles, 16.48), junior Gabe Mauss (long jump, 21 feet, 6 inches), sophomore Aiden Hoff (400, 56.6) and sophomore Hudson Winchel (high jump, 5-6) also won events for Onalaska’s boys.
The Hilltoppers also won the 3,200 relay in 9:37.
Seniors Mason Cogburn (discus, 137-11) and Gavin Kreiling (pole vault, 11-0) and juniors Gabe Passe (800, 2:09.46) and Sam King (shot put, 48-1 1/2) all won events for the Logan boys.
Senior Makena McGarry won the 100 in 12.92 for Onalaska’s girls, who also received wins from senior Isabella Malecek (400, 59.75), senior Rickie Tillotson (discus, 104-1), sophomore Sadie Peterson (3,200, 12:01.86) and sophomore Elin Gilles (triple jump, 34-9).
The Hilltoppersd also won the 3,200 relay (11:20.88).
Logan’s girls received wins from senior Sarah Johnson (shot put, 33-2 3/4) and junior Marlee Stevermer (300 hurdles, 51.87).
Gatzke Invitational
TOMAH — Luther senior Jacee Erickson and junior Nathan Dobberstein and Holmen sophomore Drew Hendrickson were local double event winners.
Erickson won the girls shot put (31-8 3/4) and pole vault (9-6), while Dobberstein won the boys 110 hurdles (16.14) and 300 hurdles (43.39).
Hendrickson was victorious in the boys 100 (11.75) and 400 (56.56).
Other individual event champions were Luther sophomore Tessa Gloede (300 hurdles, 54.48), Luther junior Aiden Wickus (200, 24.74), Luther junior Olivia Gregas (800, 2:45.61), Holmen junior Linley Regan (high jump, 4-10) and Holmen junior Kaia Casberg (long jump, 14-2 1/2).
Holmen’s girls won the 400 relay (1:00.27) and 800 relay (2:04.18), and Luther’s girls won the 1,600 relay (5:08.5). Luther’s boys won the 800 relay (1:39.81).
