LA CROSSE — The Logan High School baseball scored 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning on the way to a 15-0 five-inning nonconference victory over visiting Mauston on Friday.
Right fielder Preston Elston was 4 for 4 with two doubles and drove in six runs for the Rangers (3-4), who ended a two-game losing streak.
He drove in four of those runs during the 10-run third with an RBI single and three-run double.
Tommy Check, who played third base, shortstop and catcher, was also 3 for 3 with a double and scored three runs for Logan, which finished with 18 hits.
Catcher/pitcher Jackson Bosch was 3 for 3 with two runs scored and two driven in, and center fielder Sam Diehl was 2 for 3.
Three Logan pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Melrose-Mindoro 5, G-E-T 2
GALESVILLE — The Mustangs (7-0) scored once in the fifth, once in the sixth and twice in the seventh to keep their unbeaten season going with a win over the Red Hawks.
Third baseman Eric Herzberg was 2 for 4 with a double and drove in two runs for Melrose-Mindoro, which made the most of five hits. Right fielder Isaiah Kleinsmith and center fielder Brett Peterson also drove in a run apiece, and Peterson doubled.
Colton Koss and Jacob Thesing combined to hold G-E-T to three hits. Koss allowed two hits and struck out seven over four innings, while Thesing allowed just one hit over three innings.
Westby 2, West Salem 1
WEST SALEM — The Panthers (3-4, 3-3 Coulee) gave up one run in the first and another in the sixth in a second straight loss to the Norsemen.
West Salem had six hits but could only plate one run in the bottom of the sixth. Pitcher Kayden Dettmering drove in center fielder Berkley Brose with the run.
Shortstop Mekebo Anderson and Luke Grube were both 2 for 3 for the Panthers. Grube doubled, and Dettmering allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks over six innings.
Winona Cotter 8, Caledonia 7
WINONA — The Warriors (5-3) lost their second game in a row when the Ramblers scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Caledonia scored all of its runs in the first four innings and were led by a big game from pitcher/first baseman Jack Schmitz.
Schmitz was 3 for 3 with a single, a double and a home run from the leadoff spot. He scored twice and started the game with a solo homer.
Shortstop Tyson Ginther was 2 for 4 with a triple, one run scored and one run driven in. First baseman/center fielder Max Schmitz and third baseman Braiden DeFlorian also drove in a run each for the Warriors.
