CALEDONIA — The Caledonia High school baseball team made two first-inning runs stand up in a pitching duel that resulted in a 2-1 victory over St. Charles on Tuesday.
Three pitchers — Landon O’Heron for the Warriors and Brayden Mueller and Daltyn McCready for the Saints — combined to allow five hits as Caledonia remained unbeaten with a 5-0 record.
O’Heron struck out 12, walked one, allowed one run and three singles to collect the victory for the Warriors.
Caledonia started its scoring outburst after one batter was retired in the bottom of the first.
Shortstop Tyson Ginther singled to right field, and center fielder Will Allen and O’Heron both drew walks to load the bases.
One passed ball scored Ginther, and another scored Allen.
O’Heron didn’t allow his first hit until two outs were recorded in the fourth inning.

ALMA CENTER — Senior Colton Koss pitched a one-hitter, and the Mustangs (4-0) scored four runs in the first two innings to take charge.
Koss held the Hornet hitless until yielding a leadoff single to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning.
Koss was also 3 for 5 with a double, two stolen bases, a run driven in and two runs scored. Center fielder Brett Peterson also doubled while going 2 for 3 and driving in a run.
Designated hitter Lane Rhyme was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a double.
