Thursday soccer report: Holmen uses second-half goal to beat Aquinas

LA CROSSE — The Holmen High School boys soccer team scored once in each half to score a 2-1 MVC victory over Aquinas at Fields for Kids on Thursday.

Freshman Andrew Lowman and junior Brock Needham scored for the Vikings.

Lowman scored off an assist from senior Braylan Welch to give Holmen a 1-0 lead before junior Connor Benz turned a pass from Cosmo Crockett into the tying score before the end of the first half.

Needham broke that tie in the second half with an assist off a corner kick from junior Apollo de la Rosa.

Onalaska 2, Central 2

ONALASKA — A converted penalty kick by Alex Heiderscheit in the second half allowed the visiting RiverHawks for a tie with the Hilltoppers.

Donovan Lucksted and Aiden Hoff gave Onalaska (3-2-3) a 2-0 lead in the fifth and 27th minutes, respectively.

Lucksted received an assist from Julio Aparico on a through ball and finished at the far post. Hoff scored unassisted on a tap in off a free kick.

Central (1-5-1) drew to within 2-1 when Leighvy Lee converted a penalty kick a minute after Hoff’s goal.
