ONALASKA — The Onalaska High School girls soccer team scored in the 41st minute and let its defense make that goal hold up in a 1-0 MVC victory over visiting Central on Thursday.

The Hilltoppers (5-5-1, 4-1-1 MVC) kept the pressure on first-place Holmen when Isabella Cromheecke scored unassisted.

Sophomore goalkeeper Avery Cowley made five saves to turn back the RiverHawks (5-2-1, 1-2-1).

Cam Woyczik also made five saves in goal for Central.

Holmen 5, Arcadia/Independence 0

HOLMEN — The first-place Vikings (6-2-1, 5-0-0 MVC), who are ranked ninth in Division 2 by state coaches this week, scored all of their goals in the second half.

Holmen had 20 of its 31 shots on goal after halftime, and neither of its goalkeepers — Moira Linse and Reagan Jessie — had to make a save in the team’s sixth shutout of the season.

Holmen junior Lydia Sader got things going quickly in the first half when she successfully scored on a rebound from a shot by Paige Olson just a minute in the half.

The goal was the first of two for Sader, who also found the far post off a pass from Sophie Seiler in the 53rd minute for a 3-0 lead.

Seiler also assisted Saige Ratajski on Holmen’s second goal and picked up her third assist by setting up Layni Wood for a long goal to make it 4-0. Ratajski and Wood scored their first goals of the season.

Ellie Hoehn then scored her first goal of the season in the 70th minute when a corner kick went to Ava River but the shot was blocked. Hoehn finished when the ball rolled her way.

Aquinas 3, West Salem 0

LA CROSSE — The Blugolds (8-1-0, 4-1-0 MVC) held an 18-5 advantage in shots to beat the Panthers (1-4-2, 0-2-2 MVC) at Fields for Kids.

Hannah Miller scored twice for Aquinas, which is ranked sixth in Division 4 by state coaches. Anna Binsfeld also scored, and Alexa Myre finished with two assists.

Logan/Luther 2, Sparta 2

SPARTA — The Rangers (3-4-2, 2-3-1 MVC) scored the final two goals to salvage a tie with the host Spartans.

Emma Kolb scored with an assist from Riley Horn in the 42nd minute to cut Logan/Luther’s deficit in half before Ong Moua scored with an assist from Kolb in the 65th minute to secure the tie.
