Tuesday soccer report: Holmen uses 3 second-half goals to upend Tomah

HOLMEN — The Holmen High School boys soccer team used three goals in the second half to score a 4-2 MVC victory over visiting Tomah on Tuesday.

The Vikings (3-2-1 overall, 3-0 MVC) broke away from a 1-1 halftime tie with goals from junior Triton Gomez, junior Brock Needham and sophomore Preston McHugh to take care of the Timberwolves. Needham’s broke a 2-2 tie and was on a rebound.

Senior Braylan Welch scored Holmen’s goal in the first half before Tomah came back to tie the score when Brody Habelman made the Vikings pay for a turnover. McHugh’s goal came on a penalty kick and produced the final score.

Onalaska 0, Sparta 0

SPARTA — A defensive battle limited the Hilltoppers to just a couple of shots on goal and the Spartans to none in a scoreless tie.

Arcadia 5, Central 2

LA CROSSE — The Raiders (7-0-1) blasted the RiverHawks (1-5, 0-2) at Fields for Kids to remain unbeaten in the conference and scored three times in the second half.
