CALEDONIA — The Caledonia High School girls soccer team began its season with a 3-0 victory over visiting Stewartville on Saturday.
The Warriors scored all of their goals in the first half, and senior midfielder Siri Konkel had a hand in all of them as the defense and goalkeeper Alexus Qualy made sure the opening game ended with a shutout.
Senior forward Losiah Gay started things off by converting a pass from Konkel in the fourth minute. That same combination — Konkel to Gay — struck again 12 minutes later to push Caledonia’s lead to 2-0.
Konkel added another goal in the 39th minute — it was assisted on by senior forward Macy Kraus — to give the Warriors their final margin.
Qualy, a junior, stopped all 8 shots directed her way to put an exclamation point on the defensive performance.
