Friday baseball report: Onalaska uses big sixth inning to beat Prairie du Chien

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN — The Onalaska High School baseball team scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to hand Prairie du Chien a 3-2 nonconference loss on Friday.

The sixth inning began when third baseman Ian Kowal reached on an error, but he was retired at second base on a fielder’s choice off the bat of designated hitter Cooper Rudie. First baseman Carson Zinnecker then doubled to center field to get Onalaska (9-11) on the board and cut its deficit to 2-1.

Two passed balls moved Zinnecker to third and then home to tie the game, and right fielder Carson Campbell scored on an error to break it.

Zinnecker doubled twice while going 2 for 4, and center fielder/pitcher Bradyn DeLong was 2 for 2 with two walks and a double. Campbell also doubled and had two stolen bases for the Hilltoppers, who have won two of their past three games.

Jagger Banasik pitched five innings and allowed one earned run on seven hits. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out five.
