The WIAA announced on Sunday pairings for the upcoming girls volleyball and boys soccer state tournaments, and the Aquinas High School volleyball team picked up a No. 1 seed.
The Blugolds (27-4) will begin play at the Resch Center in Green Bay with a semifinal matchup against fourth-seeded Bonduel (29-4) at 8 a.m. Friday. The winner of that match will play either second-seeded Barron or third-seeded Lake Country Lutheran — those teams also play at 8 a.m. Friday — in the championship match at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Holmen’s volleyball team picked up the eighth seed in Division 1. The Vikings (24-9) will face top-seeded Milwaukee DSHA (44-1) in a 7:30 p.m. quarterfinal matchup on Thursday with the hope of playing either fourth-seeded Mukwonago or fifth-seeded Hudson at 1 p.m. Friday.
Aquinas (16-2-4) is seeded fourth in the Division 4 boys soccer bracket at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee and will play a semifinal against top-seeded Shoreland Lutheran (18-2-1) at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Second-seeded Sheboygan Falls plays third-seeded Shawano in the second semifinal, and the championship game is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday.
