ONALASKA — The Holmen High School ASL floor hockey team was looking for its first win of the season on Monday, and Aiden Romskog scored three goals to lead the way in a 7-0 victory over Onalaska.
Romskog scored one goal in the first period and two more in the third in a game the Vikings led 2-0 after the first period and 4-0 after the second.
Nick Hermann scored Holmen’s second goal with an assist from Karsen Nelson, then assisted on a Kian Carlisle goal on a back-handed shot. Carlisle later scored again for the 4-0 advantage.
Romskog’s final two goals were grouped with the first goal of the season for Kai Rice for the final margin of victory.
Assistant coach Nicole Gullickson praised the Vikings’ defense during the shutout. Josie Columbo, Gabriella Villareal, Jett Lewis, Logan Rastall and Carlisle were aggressive, and goalie Carter Van Lin, whom Gullickson called “a brick wall,” saved everything shot his way in getting the shutout.
Gullickson said the Vikings focused on communication, effort, having fun and playing as a team, and it led to their first victory.
