SPARTA — The West Salem High School boys golf team won the 18-hole Coulee Conference championship meet with a score of 341 at River Run Golf Course on Tuesday.
The Panthers held off second-place Arcadia (347) and third-place Hillsboro/Royall (350). Luther was fifth with a 352.
West Salem also took over second place in the season standings with the victory. The Panthers finished with 75 points and were only outscored by Black River Falls (92). The Knights were third with 71.
Luther sophomore Robert Bruns was season medalist with 117.5 points.
West Salem junior Noah Wachter was fourth individually in the championship meet with an 11-over par 83. Black River Falls junior Sam Aebly was meet medalist with a 78, and Bruns was tied with West Salem senior Coen Knutson and freshman Cadyn Reding for seventh with an 85.
Junior Drew McConkey was 14th overall at Sparta with an 88 to round out West Salem’s team score.
Freshman Nolan Muller shot an 87, sophomore Jaden Kolb an 89 and sophomore Brody Wihlm a 91 for the Knights to complete their team score.
The Panthers had five individuals place between 10th and 15th in the season standings.
Wachter was 10th (55.5), McConkey 12th (43), Kayden Tauscher 13th (39.5), Reding 14th (38.5) and Knutson 15th (36.7).
Greeno tied for 17th place individually for the season with 33.5 points to give the area another finisher in the top 20.
