OSSEO — The Melrose-Mindoro High School softball team scored four runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pull away from a close game and beat Osseo-Fairchild 6-1 on Friday.
The Mustangs (11-3) had 11 hits and took advantage of six errors by the Thunder to bounce back from a 4-2 loss to Blair-Taylor.
Center fielder Kelsey Young was 3 for 3, drew a walk and scored three times for Melrose-Mindoro, which expanded a 2-0 lead with two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Pitcher Opal Buchanan was 2 for 4 with a double and drove in one run, and second baseman Bella Rozek was 2 for 4, drove in her 32nd run of the season and stole two bases.
Buchanan pitched a four-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk.
West Salem 5, Holmen 2
WEST SALEM — The outright Coulee Conference champions beat the MVC co-leaders by scoring the final three runs of the game.
The Panthers (17-2) scored two unearned runs on an error in the fifth inning and scored another run when Brylee Vick’s sacrifice fly scored Brenna Pontius.
Pitcher Josie Brudos was 2 for 3, stole two bases, scored twice and limited the Vikings (12-6) to three hits while striking out 13.
Left fielder Sydney Cichosz was 2 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI for Holmen, which received a strong pitching performance from freshman Whitney Stuhr. She pitched all six innings, struck out four and allowed one earned run on eight hits with no walks and singled and drove in a run.
Caledonia 25, Fillmore Central 0 (4)
CALEDONIA — Avery Augedahl and Ayla Lange combined on a no-hitter for the Warriors (17-1), who scored 17 runs in the third inning and shut out their sixth straight opponent.
Augedahl struck out eight over three innings, and Caledonia took full advantage of 10 walks and six hit batters.
Shortstop Lily Wiebke was 3 for 3 with a double and drove in four runs, and left fielder Lauren Goetzinger went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs.
Catcher Adrienne Lange doubled and drove in four runs, and Ayla Lange doubled and drove in three.
Third baseman Paizley Lange was 2 for 3, scored twice and stole two bases.
G-E-T 5, Aquinas 2
GALESVILLE — The Blugolds (6-10) led by a run after four innings, but the Red Hawks scored twice in the fifth and twice in the sixth to win.
Aquinas had 10 hits and scored both of its runs in the fourth.
First baseman Ava Scholze was 2 for 2, walked twice and hit a solo home run in the fourth for the Blugolds.
Right fielder Sophie Bisek also singled and drove in a run for Aquinas, which had Abby Ziolkowski pitch a complete game with three strikeouts, three walks and seven hits allowed.
