HOLMEN — The Holmen High School girls soccer team wasn’t able to take advantage of a strong attack in the first half, but it scored twice after halftime for a 2-0 MVC victory over visiting Tomah on Thursday.
Sophomore Ava Rivera scored her seventh goal of the season with an assist from junior Lydia Sader just four minutes into the second half to break the scoreless tie.
Sophomore Paige Olson set up junior Ava Amundson for the second goal as the first-place Vikings improved to 8-3-1 overall and 7-0-0 in the MVC.
Holmen has outscored its opponents 29-8 this season and holds a 27-1 advantage against conference opponents.
Aquinas 8, Arcadia/Independence 0
LA CROSSE — Senior forward Alexa Myre had two goals and three assists for the Blugolds (10-1-0, 6-1-0) in their seventh straight victory.
Aquinas, ranked ninth in Division 4 by state coaches, also received a hat trick from senior Alaina Elias and single goals from Quinn Williams, Hayden Zehren and Eleanor Paulson in the victory at Fields for Kids.
Zehren, Norah Poellinger, Williams and Liv Dickinson also had assists.
The Blugolds held the Raiders to two shots and recorded 35 of their own, putting 23 of those on target.
West Salem 3, Logan/Luther 0
WEST SALEM — The Panthers (3-4-2, 2-2-2) won their second straight game and posted their second shutout of the season.
Emily Graham scored two of West Salem’s goals, and Ava Schuster had the third. Amelia Goetz assisted on Graham’s goal that opened the scoring.
The Rangers saw their record drop to 3-6-2 and 2-5-1.
Central vs. Sparta
The RiverHawks (6-3-1, 2-3-1 MVC) were awarded a forfeit due to the Spartans’ lack of players.
