TOMAH — The Onalaska High School boys golf team had three of the top six individual performers and won an MVC meet at Hiawatha Golf Club on Wednesday.
Aquinas junior Jack Vogel and Central/Logan junior Sid Hooyman both broke par and tied for medalist honors, but sophomore Rylan Tomashek, sophomore Colten Schroeder and junior Chasen Witt were third and tied for fifth, respectively, to help the Hilltoppers shoot a 296.
Vogel shot even on the front nine and 1-under-par 35 on the back for his 1-under score of 71. He birdied No. 7 and No. 9 on the front and No. 11 and No. 15 on the back.
Hooyman shot a 1-under 35 on the front and an even 36 on the back. He birdied No. 9 after pars on each of the first eight holes. He birdied No. 13 and No. 15 on the back, but they were neutralized by a pair of bogeys.
Vogel’s round helped the Blugolds place second as a team with a score of 305. Holmen was third (310) and Central/Logan fifth (329).
Tomashek was alone in third place with a 72, and Holmen senior Logan Pinnow shot a 73 to finish one shot ahead of the tied Schroeder and Witt.
Tomashek had three birdies (Nos. 1, 3 and 9) and three bogeys on the front and one birdie (No. 13) and one bogey on the back. Pinnow was 1 over on the front and even on the back with birdies at No. 1, No. 10 and No. 15.
Schroeder was 2 under on the front with three birdies — Nos. 2, 5 and 9 — and 4 over on the back with one more at No. 10 for his 74was. Witt was 1 over on the front and 1 over on the back with birdies at Nos. 3 and 13.
The Hilltoppers also received 76s from junior Grayson Andel and freshman Ashler Andel, who tied for eighth place individually.
The Blugolds also received scoring rounds from sophomore James Siegert (75), junior Michael Jones (79) and junior Gabe Hundt (80).
Pinnow was backed up by rounds of 77 from junior Gavin Steffen, 78 from senior Braylan Welch and 82 from senior Sawyer Genz.
Freshman Nate Brudos shot an 83 for Central/Logan, which also received an 87 from senior Nathan Flatten and an 88 from sophomore Thomas Brudos.
