Monday basketball: Caledonia girls advance in Section 1AA tournament; Logan boys fall to Menomonie

ROCHESTER — The Caledonia High School girls basketball team advanced to an MSHSL Section 1AA semifinal with a 70-51 victory over Winona Cotter/Hope Lutheran at the Mayo Civic Arena on Monday.

Fourth-seeded Caledonia (22-6) will meet top-seeded Red Wing (24-4) at the Mayo Civic Auditorium on Saturday for an 11 a.m. tipoff. Red Wing beat Caledonia 57-55 during the regular season.

The Warriors beat the Ramblers for the third time this season but lost senior guard Aubrie Klug to a knee injury during the first half. Klug did not return, and her status for Saturday will be determined this week.
Senior Kensey King scored a team-high 23 points in a game Caledonia led by 22 points after one half.

Klug — a 2,000-point scorer — added 14 points before the injury, and senior Nicole Banse and junior Jessica Stendel scored 10 points each.

Menomonie 78, Logan 51

LA CROSSE — The Rangers (2-21) had their losing streak extended to 10 games by the Mustangs at the Steve Hole Field House.

Senior Dio Leone scored 22 points and sophomore Henry Bosch 14 for Logan, which closes out the regular season Thursday by hosting Sparta (10-13) in an MVC game.
