PRESCOTT — Holmen High School senior Alex Berget scored the 1,000th point of his career as his team got back on the winning track with a nonconference win at Prescott on Thursday.
Berget, who needed five points to reach the mark, scored 11 as Holmen beat the Cardinals 66-43 to snap a two-game losing streak and move its record to 11-6.
Sophomore Cohen Kendhammer scored a team-high 17 points and led the team with seven rebounds. Berget and junior Jayden Bartels each scored 11 to give the Vikings three players in double figures.
Bartels and Kendhammer each made three 3-pointers, and Berget knocked down two. Berget also had five assists and five rebounds.
West Salem 76, Luther 55
ONALASKA — The first-place Panthers (13-2, 6-0 Coulee) remained unbeaten in the conference and had a 40-21 lead by the end of the first half against the Knights (7-7, 3-3).
Junior Drew McConkey scored 24 points to go with eight rebounds and three steals for West Salem, which won its second game in a row and hosts Luther on Saturday afternoon. Senior Tyson Labus had 18 points and seven rebounds and senior Nate Dillaber 13 points, three 3-pointers and three steals. Labus made 6 of 9 shots from the floor.
Will Schmidt had nine assists and Spencer Kammel 10 rebounds and four assists for the Panthers.
The Knights were led by junior Trent Berg’s 11 points, six rebounds and five assists. Senior Max Huelskamp added nine points and nine rebounds, junior Logan Pierece eight points and freshman Javon Zenke eight points.
