Saturday boys basketball: Unbeaten Onalaska charges past Lake Country Lutheran; Central blasts Oconomowoc

BEAVER DAM — The Onalaska High School boys basketball team continued its unbeaten season with a 70-53 nonconference victory over Lake Country Lutheran at Wayland Academy on Saturday.

The Hilltoppers (12-0) — ranked first in Division 2 for the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports media poll — had three players reach double figures for the team’s third win in five days.

Sophomore Tyler Kowal scored a team-high 18 points and contributed six steals. Sophomore Gavin McRoberts had 15 points and senior Trent Oyen 12.

Senior Ian Kowal added six assists for Onalaska, which next hosts Logan on Tuesday and Aquinas on Friday.

Central 74, Oconomowoc 49

LA CROSSE — The RiverHawks extended their winning streak to six games and had a 15-point lead over the Raccoons by halftime.

Junior guard Gabe Servais scored a team-high 24 points on 9-for-18 shooting and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers. He also had seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Junior teammate Will Schilling made 6 of 8 shots on his way to 13 points, and junior Gander Conrad went 3 for 3 from the 3-point line for nine points.

Sophomore Jorden Calvert pulled down six rebounds and had two steals, and junior Anthony Jones scored eight points and recorded five steals.

Fox Valley Lutheran 75, West Salem 66

APPLETON — The Panthers lost a double-figure lead in the second half through turnovers and missed free throws to lose for the second time this season.

West Salem (11-2) had a six-game win streak stopped and was led by a 17-point performance from junior Drew McConkey. He had 13 of his points in the first half.

Seniors Tyson Labus and Nate Dillaber added 13 points each. Dillaber made three of his four 3-pointers during a 10-point first half, and Labus scored eight of his points after halftime.
