CALEDONIA — The Caledonia High School football team ran its winning streak to six games by opening the MSHSL Section 1AA tournament with a 33-10 victory over St. Charles on Tuesday.
The third-seeded Warriors (7-2), who haven’t lost since Sept. 12, beat the sixth-seeded Saints (2-7) for the second time this season in their quarterfinal matchup. Caledonia earns the chance to play at second-seeded Triton (7-2) in a semifinal on Saturday.
Senior Hunter Frank rushed 18 times for 224 yards and three touchdowns for the Warriors, who lost a 13-3 game to Triton on Sept. 12. Frank scored twice in the first quarter to help the Warriors build a 21-0 lead. He added a third-quarter touchdown to give his team a 33-0 advantage.
Frank scored on runs of 4, 38 and 7 yards. The 38-yarder was his second scoring run of the first quarter and gave Caledonia a 14-0 lead.
Senior quarterback Will Allen then threw a 25-yard touchdown pass — his only completion of the game — to sophomore Grant King for the 21-0 advantage.
Junior Bodie Knutson also had a touchdown run for the Warriors, who didn’t allow St. Charles to score until the fourth quarter.
