HOLMEN — The Holmen High School boys soccer team won the MVC championship by playing to a 1-1 tie against visiting Arcadia on Tuesday.
The Vikings (10-7-2) completed the conference season with an 8-1-1 record and held off the second-place Raiders (17-2-4, 7-1-2) for the championship.
Senior Braylan Welch scored for Holmen in the first half with an assist from Apollo de la Rosa.
The Vikings are seeded sixth in Division 1 for the upcoming WIAA postseason. The Vikings play at third-seeded Superior on Oct. 21. Arcadia is seeded first in Division 4 and has a first-round bye.
Onalaska 8, West Salem 0
WEST SALEM — The Hilltoppers (6-8-5, 5-2-3) had no trouble beating the Panthers (10-6-1, 6-4) and getting some revenge after a 2-0 loss to them earlier this season.
Onalaska scored twice in the first half and six times in the second behind goals from eight players.
Colton Klein and Benji Zimmer scored in the first half, and Lucas Simioni, Miachael Zelyeza, Samuel Thao, Zach Imgrund, Alton Larson and Donovan Lucksted scored in the second. Lucksted also assisted on Zimmer’s first-half goal.
Klein, Imgrund, Larson and Thao — he finished a penalty kick — all scored their first goals of the season.
The Hilltoppers are seeded fifth in the Division 2 field and play at fourth-seeded Baraboo on Oct. 21. The Panthers are seeded ninth in Division 3 and open at eighth-seeded Mount Horeb on Oct. 23.
Logan 1, Aquinas 1
LA CROSSE — The Rangers (1-11-1, 1-8-1) and Blugolds (8-6-2, 2-5-2) tied in a game played at Fields for Kids.
Andy Vue scored with an assist from Aidan Kuelz for Logan, which received nine saves from Parker Stevermer.
Aquinas had 15 total shots, three corner kicks and three free kicks.
The Rangers are seeded 17th in Division 3 and begin their postseason against 16th-seeded Jefferson at Lake Mills on Oct. 21. The Blugolds are seeded third in Division 4 and open at Fields for Kids against sixth-seeded Richland Center on Oct. 23.
