MADISON — The Onalaska High School girls golf team is eighth in the Division standings after one day of the WIAA state tournament at University Ridge.
The Hilltoppers finished the first 18 holes on Monday with a team score of 365 and sit 20 strokes behind seventh-place Hartland Arrowhead and two ahead of ninth-place Hortonville.
Milwaukee Divine Savior Holy Angels takes the lead into Tuesday’s second round after shooting a 317 that is six shots better than second-place Brookfield East.
Sophomore Finley Schams shot Onalaska’s best score of the day with an 86. She had a 9-over-par 45 on the front nine and a 5-over 41 on the back with a birdie at No. 11. Junior Becka Mohr followed with a 90 that included a birdie on No. 6.
The Hilltoppers also received scoring rounds of 94 from senior Rickie Tillotson and 95 from senior Sydney Kranig. Onalaska will begin teeing off for the second round at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday.
