Tuesday boys basketball report: Holmen wins third in a row after making 14 3-pointers

EAU CLAIRE — The Holmen High School boys basketball team will take a three-game winning streak into Thursday’s MVC showdown against Aquinas at the Bernie L. Ferry Fieldhouse after handing Eau Claire North a 90-72 nonconference loss on Tuesday.

Holmen (18-5) scored 54 points in the first half and ended up with four players scoring at least 13 points.
Senior Kaiden Wilber had a team-high 23 and made three of the Vikings’ 14 3-pointers. Junior Alex Berget added 21 with three 3s and sophomore Jayden Bartels 16 with a team-high four 3s.

Senior Jeren Rink added 13 points and a team-high six rebounds for Holmen, which trails the first-place Blugolds by one game and can secure a share of the conference title by beating them on Thursday.

Holmen shot 58 percent (36 of 62) from the floor and 48 percent (14 of 29) from the 3-point line.

Eau Claire Memorial 65, Central 37

EAU CLAIRE — The RiverHawks (15-9) lost their second game in a row and were outscored by 21 points in the second half.

Sophomore Will Schilling scored a team-high 10 points for Central, which made 14 of 49 shots (28.6 percent) in the game and went 2 for 9 from the 3-point line with 18 turnovers.

The Old Abes (18-4) pulled away from a 23-16 halftime lead by scored 42 points in the second half.
