TOMAH — The Aquinas High School boys wrestling team swept through the competition for a pair of MVC dual victories Thursday in Tomah.
The Blugolds, who are ranked first in Division 3 by Wisconsin Grappler, beat Central/Logan 70-6 and Tomah 65-10 to start its conference season with a 2-0 record. Central/Logan also lost to the Timberwolves 40-35.
Sophomores Ayden Lorenz and Martez Sheard won twice by pin at 113 and 138 pounds, respectively, for Aquinas. Freshman Mason Klar (126) won by technical fall and major decision, senior Waylon Hargrove (175) won by major decision and pin, and freshman Reid Nicklay (132) won by pin and decision.
Central/Logan pulled within the final margin against Tomah when freshman Eli DeLap pulled out a 5-0 win at 113 pounds in the final match.
Junior Onesimus West (150), freshman Rylan Wells (157) and freshman Alejandro Flores (285) all won by pin for Central/Logan against Tomah.
West Salem/Bangor 64, Eau Claire North 15
WEST SALEM — The Catbirds won nine of 12 wrestled matches, and eight of those ended with pins.
Seniors Ethan Hegge (215), Cayson Anderson (113), Mason Chambers (157) and Caden Anderson (190), juniors Jarett Plomedahl (150), Lucas Fry (165) and Justice Elam (175) and sophomore Ryan Arntson (144) all won by pin for West Salem/Bangor.
Senior Teghan Moore won by technical fall at 132.
G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro 44, Caledonia/Houston 22
CALEDONIA — The Titans took care of the Warriors and picked up some significant head-to-head wins during the process.
Koda Purney recorded a 5-4 victory over Aiden Burns at 127, and Aaron Dunigan beat Cooper Allen 15-13 at 215. Colton Koss (139), Brody Banse (145) and Jayce Stetzer (160) all won by technical fall.
