Thursday softball report: Holmen starts season with bang against Sparta

SPARTA — The Holmen High School softball team had seven players with at least one hit and scored at least once in four of the five innings in a 10-0 MVC victory at Sparta on Thursday.

The Vikings scored twice in the first inning, twice in the third and ended the game with a five-run fifth.

Junior shortstop Macy Kline was 3 for 3 with a double, three stolen bases, three runs scored and two runs driven in for Holmen, which finished with 12 hits to the Spartans’ four against the pitching of Gabi Stuhr. Stuhr struck out two and walked two for Holmen.

Left fielder Kaylee Mosser, center fielder McKenna McHugh and right fielder Imani Toso all had two hits for the Vikings, and Mosser and first baseman Taylor Everson joined Kline with two RBIs.

Mosser and Toso both scored two runs.

Onalaska 8, Aquinas 0

ONALASKA — The Hilltoppers (1-0) used a five-run second inning and overpowering pitching from Sydney Kraus to pull away from the Blugolds (1-2).

Shortstop Quita Olson was 3 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base for Onalaska, which received a 17-strikeout performance from Krause.

Kraus also limited the Blugolds to one hit

Kraus was 2 for 4, catcher Lauren Pica drove in two runs, and center fielder Jenna Gansen scored three times for the Hilltoppers.

Ava Scholze led off the fifth inning with a single for the Blugolds as they broke up the no-hitter.

Arcadia 8, Luther 2

ARCADIA — The Raiders beat the Knights for the second time this season and scored at least one run in every inning.

Sophomore Tatum Drazkowski was 3 for 3 and drove in four runs for Arcadia, which allowed single runs in the first and third.

Kaitlyn Bremer pitched for Arcadia and allowed four hits and a walk while striking out seven batters. Bremer also tripled.

Tomah 11, Logan 1 (6)

TOMAH — The Rangers (0-2) scored in the third inning, and second baseman Norak Keller’s single was enough to break up the no-hitter.
