Thursday wrestling report: Holmen, G-E-T/Mel.-Min. sweep through conference foes

LA CROSSE — The Holmen High School boys wrestling team picked up a pair of MVC dual victories while competing against Logan/Central and Sparta on Thursday.

The Vikings beat the co-op 70-9 and the Spartans 63-16 at the Mark Sutton Memorial Gymnasium.
Holmen received pinfalls from Turner Campbell (132 pounds), Noah Henderson (138), Nolan Knapmiller (150), Abraham Henderson (175), Rex Lancaster (106), Jin Xiong (113) and Olie Strasser (126) against Logan/Central.

Calvin Arentz scored a major decision over Holmen’s Jonathon Lamprich at 165, and Noah Nicholson recorded a pin at 215 for La Crosse.

Camden Thiele (144), Josiah Kulmaczewski (150), Lamprich (175), Abraham Handerson (190), Nathan Henderson (120), Strasser (126) and Campbell (132) had pins against Sparta. Devon Lietzau won by technical fall over Noah Henderson at 138, and Landon Connelly finished his match at 113 by pin.
Logan/Central gained a split for the night with a 40-36 win over Sparta.

Vincent Moua (126) and Emerson King (132) won by decision to put Logan/Central over the top in the dual. King’s 8-7 decision gave La Crosse a 40-30 lead with one match left.

Nicholas Wanner-Holinka (150) and Nicholson (215) won matches by pin for La Crosse.

Coulee Duals

GALESVILLE — The G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro co-op swept through four opponents in one-sided fashion.

The Titans beat Arcadia 71-12, Black River Falls 72-12, Viroqua 80-0 and Westby 76-3. They won 18 matches by pin, and Layne Fry (138), Aaron Dunigan (215) and Benjamin Hansen (285) recorded two each.

Cale Pickering (190) and Braden Peterson (175) each won once by pin and once by technical fall.
Westby’s Jayden Geier beat G-E-T/Mel-Min’s Brody Banse 11-6 at 132.
