ONALASKA — The Onalaska/La Crosse co-op boys hockey team will enter the postseason with two consecutive overtime victories.
The Hilltoppers beat visiting Oregon 3-2 in extra time on Friday at the OmniCenter after winning 1-0 at La Crescent-Hokah on Thursday.
Onalaska/La Crosse (22-2) take a 10-game winning streak into the WIAA Division 1 tournament, which begins with a 7 p.m. Tuesday game against 12th-seeded DeForest (6-17). The Hilltoppers are seeded fifth and could be headed toward a regional final at fourth-seeded Verona (14-9) in the regional finals.
Onalaska/La Crosse won the game when Central junior Liam Branson scored with assists from Onalaska freshman Connor Frecht and Central junior — and goaltender — Parker Tripp at 1 minute, 16 seconds of overtime.
The goal was Branson’s second of the game. He gave the Hilltoppers a 1-0 lead in the first with assists from Grayson Andel and Jackson Egan.
Onalaska/La Crosse went ahead 2-1 at 3:22 of the third when Onalaska senior Carter Johnson scored with an assist from Zach Marso. Oregon tied the game at 2 at 11:09.
Tripp made 29 saves for the Hilltoppers and had 61 in the past two days.
