HOLMEN — The Holmen High School boys basketball team made 15 3-pointers to score an 81-58 nonconference victory over Winona on Saturday.
The Vikings (4-3) outscored the Winhawks by 12 points in the first half and 11 more in the second to record a win at the Bernie L. Ferry Fieldhouse while making 15 of 31 attempts from the 3-point line.
Junior Jayden Bartels and sophomore Cohen Kendhammer made four 3-pointers each as Holmen topped the 80-point mark for the fourth time this season.
Kendhammer finished with a team-high 20 points on 4-for-8 3-oint shooting, and Bartels added 15 while making 4 of 7 attempts from the 3-point line.
Junior Boston Popp added 11 points with three 3s for the Vikings, who have won two of their past three games.
Bartels, Popp and Colin Williams tied for the team lead with six rebounds.
Caledonia 70, Waverly-Shell Rock 49
DECORAH — The Warriors (5-1) cruised to a nonconference win at Luther College.
Sophomore Grant King scored a team-high 26 points and made two 3-pointers for Caledonia, which built a 41-17 lead throughout the first half.
Sophomore Griffin Gantenbein added 14 points for the Warriors, who have won two straight games since their only loss to Holmen. Junior Jacoby Hammell added 10 points.
Kickapoo 64, Onalaska Luther 61
VOLIA — The Knights (2-3) couldn’t come back from a 12-point deficit after one half against the state’s fourth-ranked Division 5 team.
Senior Brody Greeno scored a team-high 20 points and tied for the team lead with four rebounds, and freshman Javon Zenke had 16 points and four rebounds.
Greeno made four 3-pointers.
Onalaska 77, Aquinas 68
LA CROSSE — The Hilltoppers (5-0, 2-0 MVC), ranked second in Division 2 by the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports media poll, outlasted the Blugolds (3-1, 1-1), ranked sixth in Division 3, with a 19-2 run in the second half.
