BARABOO — The Onalaska High School football team put a two-game losing streak behind it with a big performance in an MVC victory over Baraboo on Friday.

The Hilltoppers (3-2 overall, 1-2 MVC) opened with a 22-point first quarter on their way to a 51-13 victory over the Thunderbirds in one of the few games completed by local teams.

Senior quarterback Ian Kowal completed 15 of 20 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns for an offense that generated 434 yards and at least one touchdown in every quarter.

Senior Luke Siegel had a team-high six catches for 79 yards and a 48-yard touchdown in the third quarter, while junior Brendan Chenault had a 54-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter for his only reception.

Senior Tanner Siebert also had five catches for 45 yards and a 4-yard touchdown reception to start the scoring.

Sophomore Adam Kuhn rushed for 75 of Onalaska’s 171 yards and scored three touchdowns on runs of 3, 29 and 6 yards. The 29-yarder came in the second quarter and allowed the Hilltoppers to take a 29-0 lead.

The Thunderbirds (0-5, 0-3) were held to 113 total yards and nine first downs. Grayson Andel had an interception for Onalaska.

West Salem 13, Arcadia 0

WEST SALEM — The Panthers (4-1, 3-0) won their fourth straight game in a shortened fashion by scoring two early touchdowns.

Junior quarterback Drew McConkey completed all three of his passes for 78 yards. He completed two touchdown passes to senior Spencer Kammel for a combined 47 yards and had a 31-yard completion to Landon Michlig.

Junior Rory O’Neill carried three times for 20 yards but left the game due an injury.

The Raiders (3-2, 1-2) managed just 11 total yards before the game was delayed and then called off.

De Soto 62, Wisconsin Heights 12

DE SOTO — The Pirates (3-1, 3-1) scored 54 first-half points on the way to pummeling the Vanguards (0-5, 0-4).

Senior quarterback Finn Wrobel was responsible for 132 total yards and had a hand in five touchdowns for De Soto, which bounced back from a loss to North Crawford last week.

Wrobel completed all four of his passes for 124 yards and three touchdowns and took both of his carries to the end zone.

Seniors Austin DeFlorian and Griffin Hanson and sophomore Kanoa Rodgers each had an interception, senior Bryce Schultz recovered a fumble, and junior Adam Venner blocked a punt for the Pirates.

DeFlorian also rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown, Schultz caught two passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and senior Jackson Trussoni caught a 14-yard touchdown pass.

De Soto scored 38 points in the first quarter and on 6 of its first 11 plays. The Pirates scored their first touchdown — a 2-yard run by Wrobel — just 34 seconds into the game.

Wrobel completed both of his TD passes to Schultz in the first quarter, and he scored on runs of 2 and 8 yards.
