Seeding meetings took place Sunday morning, and the Holmen and Aquinas high school girls soccer teams know their semifinal opponents for the upcoming WIAA state tournament.
The Vikings (18-3-1) were awarded the fourth seed in Division 2 and will open with an 11 a.m. matchup against top-seeded Brookfield Central (12-3) on Thursday at the Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
Second-seeded Wauwatosa East (15-4-1) and third-seeded DeForest (14-6-2) will play the second semifinal, and the winners will face off for the championship at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Brookfield Central is ranked second among Division 2 teams by state coaches and won the Division 2 championship last year. The Vikings are sixth and Wauwatosa East 10th.
Aquinas (15-3-1) is the third seed in Division 4 and will meet second-seeded The Prairie School (18-1-1) in a 1:30 p.m. semifinal on Friday at Uihlein. The Prairie School is ranked first by state coaches and the Blugolds eighth.
The first semifinal at 11 a.m. will pit top-seeded Xavier (21-1) against fourth-seeded Ozaukee/Random Lake (17-3-1). Xavier is ranked second and Ozaukee/Random Lake fourth by state coaches, and this is a rematch of last year’s championship game won by Xavier.
The Division 4 championship game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
