EAU CLAIRE — West Salem High School junior Michael Torrance won the boys 800-meter run at the UW-Eau Claire High School Distance Classic on Friday.
Torrance completed the race at Simpson Field in 1 minutes, 59.36 seconds to cross the finish line first in a field of 58 runners.
The Panthers also received top finishes from sophomores Evan Berra and Anna Witte and senior Andrew Lorenz.
Berra was third in the boys 3,200 (9:40.81), Witte was fourth in the girls 800 (2:25.26), and Lorenz placed sixth in the boys 1,600 (4:37.66).

RUSHFORD — Caledonia/Spring Grove’s Finley Wait won the girls 100 (13.16), 200 (27.94) and 400 (1:02.68) as her team placed third out of five with 54 points.
Jacoby Hammell also won the 100 (11.43) and placed third in the 200 (24.02) to lead the Caledonia/Spring Grove boys.
The Caledonia/Spring Grove boys placed fourth (26). Logan’s girls (26) and boys (25) were fifth.
Logan’s boys received second-place finishes from Wes McGough (shot put, 47-11 1/2) and and Ayden Blackdeer (pole vault, 9-6), while Caledonia/Spring Grove’s Seth Kaufmann was second in the long jump (18-11) and Noah Heppner third in the shot put (43-7 1/2).
Caledonia/Spring Grove’s Alexis Qualy was second in the shot put (31-6 1/2), and the team’s 400 (57.77) and 800 (1:55.05) relays were second.
Logan’s girls received a second-place finish from Aiyana Mack (triple jump, 30-6 1/2) and third-place performances from Kylie Devine (400, 1:04.91), Ellie Bemis (shot put, 28-11) and Anne Overhoff (pole vault, 7-0).

FOUNTAIN CITY — Luther was led by its boys 800 relay team, which won with a time of 1:45.45.
Third-place performances were recorded by freshman Hudson Jordahl (pole vault, 7-0), sophomore Natalie Chase (high jump, 4-2) and the Knights’ girls 400 relay (1:00.16).
