Friday boys and girls basketball: Luther, West Salem girls and West Salem boys get victories

ONALASKA — The Luther High School girls basketball team is hitting its stride and used another solid performance on Friday to push its winning streak to three games.

The Knights jumped out to a 14-point lead after one half and turned that into a 69-32 Coulee Conference victory over visiting G-E-T.

Luther (7-6 overall, 3-2 Coulee) had eight players score and was led by sophomore Cara Unke’s 22 points. She scored 13 of those as the Knights built a 31-17 halftime lead. Unke also made one 3-pointer in each half.

Sophomore Natalie Hackbarth added 10 points and sophomore Jaeyda Livingston nine for Luther, which occupies fourth place in the standings.

West Salem 44, Bangor 38

WEST SALEM — The Panthers (6-5) got back on track after a loss to Viroqua to beat the Cardinals.

LA CROSSE — The Panthers (9-1) picked up their fourth win in a row by taking care of the Rangers (1-10) at the Steve Hole Field House.

Four players reached double figures for West Salem, which held a 36-20 halftime lead.

Senior Tyson Labus scored a team-high 13 points for the Panthers as they scored fewer than 70 points in a game for the first time.

Junior Drew McConkey added 12 points, and sophomore Carter Alexander made two 3-pointers and added 11. Senior Nate Dillaber also made a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 for West Salem.
